TROOPER RECOVERED
IN MISSISSIPPI!

Trooper Billy T. Transom traveled 385 miles to Pass Christian, Mississippi.  This is by far the furthest distance that any of our recovered troopers has traveled.  The jet stream on the day of Transom's launch was blowing due east at approximately 80 knots.  Another trooper from this launch, Ronald Regis, was recovered in Sabine Pass, Texas, approximately 90 miles to the east.  The following are sitreps for these two recoveries:

This is to inform you that Balloon Trooper Regis is no longer missing in action.  A partially filled balloon complete with trooper is now our guest after having landed in our front garden right across the highway from the Mississippi Sound in Pass Christian, Mississippi.  I don't know where you released the trooper, but it landed in a little city on the Gulf of Mexico about a half hour from Biloxi.  He seems none the worse for the wear with the exception of not having a completely filled balloon.

We will be happy to send Trooper Billy T. Ransom back to you.  We found Private Transom around 2:30 pm today, he was stuck in a hedge.

We'll mail the trooper tomorrow - good luck on your science project.

A huge thank you to the ground allies for this rescue!  384 miles is a long way to travel!

Private Ronald Regis was discovered today March 19th at Seas Rim Park just outside of Sabine Pass, Texas.  He looks like he survived a swim in the Gulf of Mexico and safely made hs way onshore and was resting in a sand dune when he was rescued by two science teachers from Houston.

Good luck on your project!
